David Herbert Lawrence (1885-1930) was an English
novelist, poet, playwright and literary critic, one of the key writers of the early twentieth century, most famous for his criticism of
rationalism and industrialization. “Kangaroo” is writer’s eighth novel, based on a three-month visit to Australia by Lawrence and his wife Frieda in 1922. This book fuses lightly disguised
autobiography with an exploration of the political situation in Sydney.
